UPPER SENIOR MUSICAL THEATRE
£55/month
THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN

The Upper Senior Team is the area's leading youth music theatre company - and here's why.  Firstly, we are the only youth company to regularly perform full-scale musicals in a recognised theatre venue.  A huge proportion of our graduates have gone on to conservatoire and university training, obtaining places at the country's top establishments.  The wealth of experience and training in our tutors is exemplary. We are one of two Theatre Schools in the county to be chosen as a Delivery Partner of the Music Education Hub. You will perform with professional musicians and be guided through productions by professional, experienced technicians. You will be given opportunities to develop as an all-round performer and given the tools you need to go on to further study.

We are non-auditioned, but our standard  and expectations are high. You don't have to be the best, but you do have to do your best.  Expect hard-work,  intricate attention to detail, and the highest achievable level of performance. All we ask of you is to thoroughly commit to the group, do your best, raise your own game and bring along a sense of humour.

CLASS INFO

I loved my time at Chesterfield Studios. It was like having a second family. I was given so many opportunities to perform including playing Tony in West Side Story. I am now in my second year at the Urdang Academy training on the BA (Hons) Professional Dance and Musical Theatre Course. I simply wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for Chesterfield Studios.

- Owen Jenkinson, Former Student, Graduate of the Urdang Academy

A typical Upper Senior session will be a weekly rehearsal for an upcoming performance. This may be a showcase, concert or full-scale musical theatre production. Works are picked that are achievable yet challenging with a very broad range of material chosen. Having our own theatre space means we can offer many opportunities to our members. Rehearsals are engaging and fast-paced resulting in the best possible performance.

"The Upper Seniors never fail to come up to our expectations. There is a huge leap between the Lower and Upper Seniors and within half a term, the youngest members are already growing in confidence and ability. Everybody wants to be there and works incredibly hard to achieve their end goal. It isn't all hard work though. MT sessions are also very sociable and it's always great to see friendships being made and strengthened. The three of us care deeply about our members and always make sure everyone is prepared and ready to go. It's very much a labour of love, but as tutors, the reward of seeing the company flourish is worth every minute we spend on it. We'd really love to welcome you along."
